 I thought it would be you

The one I spent “forever” with

Never saw myself as that type of girl

Until I met you

Thought feelings were the same on both ends

But I saw you

As someone to build with

And you saw me

As a plaything

Something to pass the time

Sometimes I wish you were honest with me

Other times I wish you had just played along

And made me feel like you cared even though you didn’t Can’t even say I’m mad at you

Of which I was

Until I realized we were in high school

Two souls that didn’t actually know themselves

Let alone each other

I hope you succeed in all your endeavors

I’ll be rooting for you on the sidelines

As I hope you’ll do the same

And maybe those feelings will finally be reflected
