Bathsheba
Wife to a king she didn't ask for
The body she had been blessed with he saw as his to claim
Drenched in ceremonial waters
Trying to please her God
He saw a body worth taking
Not praising or worshiping as it should have been
But stealing and defiling as it was
They called her seduction
The reason for his adultery
His weakness
Dealt a hand she didn't want to play
But was forced to
The mother of a child lost
Due to the king's sins
Not any fault of her own
But condemnation had the taste of her name on its lips anyway
Mother to the next king
He was her revenge for a life she didn't want to lead but had to as fate would have it
Her God saw those ceremonial waters
And knew she was divine
